DetailsThis is a very interesting bowl. I was given wood from a very gnarly 75 year old family cherry tree. This piece had faults for sure. As I turned the bowl a knot flew out of the bottom laving a hole.
Oh my... I almost threw it in the wood pile. Then I remembered a piece of African blackwood I had been saving. I turned the round hole in the bottom and then sized the blackwood to fit in it. I used black epoxy to glue the woods together. I then re-turned the bowl and the base. This bowl was gorgeous but needed more contrast so out came the India ink. I think it adds great interest to an already awesome art piece. Sanded to 600 grit then sealed the wood and finished it with Lacquer and carnauba wax. STUNNING! -
